In Suburbia, you and your fellow players are city planners, placing unique building tiles in your small borough, slowing turning it into a mega-metropolis complete with residential, commercial, industrial, and civic areas. The buildings interact with each other in ways you'd expect - for instance, build a school next to a factory, and your city's reputation will be hurt. But place a mansion near a lake and watch property values rise!
